National Workshop Held on Genocide

Department of Law, College of Law and Administration, UoH held a national workshop on Genocide entitled “Genocide from Prohabition to Reconsideration” in which different presentations and seminars were offered on the December 6th, 2022 at the UoH Presidency Central Library Hall.
The first seminar was presented by Dr.Awara Ahmed Hussain under the title “Interpretation of Genocide in Criminal Courts” in which he defined the concept of the word genocide and the history of its use. He also highlighted the types of genocide namely: extermination, disrespecting, obliging to do undesired actions, marriage prevention and forcibly transferring children from a group to another racial or religious group.
The second seminar was presented by Dr. Hashim Omar under the title of, “The Perspective of Sharia concerning Genocide” in which he highlighted the perspective of Islam towards those committing the crime of Genocide. Further, he gave several proofs such as quoting several verses, hadiths and fatwas of scholars in this regard.
The third seminar was presented by Dr.Nasih Karim entitled, “Mental Health Among Chemical Victims” in which he presented two research paper results. According to the field research which was part of the mentioned research papers, 47 victims out of the victims which were interviewed are still in a bad mental state and under effect of the disaster.
