Department of Principles of Religion held Workshop on Preserving the Environment

The Department of Principles of Religion – College of Human Sciences held a national workshop on التوعية القانونية والمقاصدية والتربوية في الحفاظ على البيئة “Legal, Intentional and Educational Awareness in Preserving the Environment” on the 2nd of Februery, 2022 at the College Seminar Hall.

The key speaker of the workshop were Assist Prof. Dr. Nasih Karim, Assist Prof. Dr. Hashim Omar Ahmed, and Assist Lect. Barzan Ali Rahim.

The speakers generally discussed the essential role of preserving the environment in Islam by providing several Quranic verses, environment protection is considered as good deeds in the eyes of Allah and the opposite is counted as misdoings, and the fact that many Islamic books encourage environmental sustainability.

It was also mentioned during the workshop that the natural sources have to be used wisely and with necessity so that generation after generation enjoy the abundant resources we have on this planet. Additionally, if we do not ensure the sustainability of the environment, we will face diseases and plagues that will not to anything but to our demise.

The workshop ended with a Q&A session between the speakers and the attendees.
