UoH Participates in the APPRAIS’s 1st Partnership Meeting

A group of UoH academic staff including the university’s president, Dr. Mahabad Kamil Abdullah, vice-president, Dr. Dana Abdullah Tahir, Head of IRO, Dr. Barzan Hadi Hama Kareem and the Head of Quality Assurance, Mr. Aram Qadir Muhammad participated in the 1st Partnership Meeting in Erbil between 29 and 30 of November.

The meeting, in which staff members of 15 Kurdish universities attended and which lasted for 2 days, was organized by the Mediterranean Universities Union (UNIMED) jointly with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of KRG and hosted by Cultural and Social Centre of Salahaddin University in Erbil.

The general purpose of the meeting was to share and give a recap on what has been already done and what will have to be done regarding the project; namely, good practices and experiences about autonomy, quality assurance and good governance.

On the first day of the meeting, a roundtable was organized consisting of two panels the first of which was “Bologna Process Implementation and Higher Education Governance System in Kurdistan: Perspectives and Challenges” and the second was “Strengthening Good Governance and Institutional Autonomy for a More Accountable, Innovative and Responsible University”.
Later, an overview of APPRAIS project was presented followed by the presentation of the head of UoH’s IRO, Dr. Barzan Hadi HamaKareem on Work Package 6 which Project Quality and Evaluation and is co-led and co-implemented by the UoH and University of Salahaddin. He explored the progress of the work package including the composition of the quality committee, the quality plan and the report of the results of the Kick-off meeting and online project management questionnaire.

On the second day, each work package was discussed by their respective university leaders and the governance dimensions (accountability, participation, quality, autonomy) were dealt with during an roundtable activity followed by wrap up and conclusion of the meeting.
