Islamic Azad University, Karaj Branch Delegation consisting of Dr. Raza Jamal Pur, the University President Advisor, Dr. Muhamad Raza Askary, Head of the University Board, Dr. Hamis Hashimdar, and International Relations Advisor, accompanied by Dr. Sabah Barzanjy paid a visit to the UoH on the 6th of August 2018.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Tahseen Abdulkareem Al-Zangana gave a speech of welcome in which he stated that UoH door is always open towards any academic project to promote the University.
Dr. Al-Zangana shed some light on the UoH as one of the new universities of KRG, which needs more cooperation from Islamic Republic of Iran Universities. In addition, he also highly appreciated the Higher Education of Iran which always has a different vision towards Halabja city and its university.
Then , Dr. Tahseen provides the delegation with a brief background of the UoH and its developments. Afterthat, Dr. Askary showed his appreciation towards the UoH for the warm hospitality they extended to the delegation. He also mentioned Halabja city as a symbol of victimization and the city of martyrs.
Dr. Askary also gave a brief discussion about scientific and administrative structure of Islamic Azad University, Karaj Branch including the number of colleges, departments, lecturers, administrative staff and students.
The main outcomes of the meeting are:
· offering an international workshop about Earthquake at the UoH.
· Promoting collaboration between both sides to open Earthquake Engineering Department in near future.
· Signing MoU between the two parties including conducting joint educational and research activities, exchanging of faculty members, researchers and students, conducting joint seminars and conferences, exchanging of publications and academic texts, mutual collaboration in the field of science & technology parks, disseminating both countries’ language and literature, introducing both countries’ language and literature, accepting Islamic Azad University, Karaj Branch student registration to study a Bachelor’s Degree at the UoH in a number of fields,etc…
Islamic Azad University, Karaj Branch is one of the best and comprehensive branch of the Islamic Azad University which was established in Karaj, Alborz, Iran in 1984. It started its activities with 500 students who studied in 7 fields of study. Nowadays this big university complex consists of 11 faculties, 1 high college, 1 technical college and 1 educational center and 3 research centers.
