DAAD organizes a webinar for KRG universities

The German Academic Exchange Service or DAAD (German: Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst) organized a webinar for the KRG universities on August 23, 2021 to showcase their activities and project fundings across Iraq in general and Kurdistan Region in particular.
At first both Amanj Saeed, adviser to the KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Klemens Semtner, Consul General of Germany gave their welcoming speeches and thanked both the organizers and the attendees of the event.
The attendees were from both public and private universities of Kurdistan Region including Rasti Hamasaeed as a representative of the University of Halabja from the university’s International Academic Relations’ Office.
The event was divided into several parts the first of which was presented by Benjamin Schmäling, the organizer of the event from DAAD. He presented an overview of the German institution, its tasks, topics, activities and its network across the globe.
The second part was presented by Jwan Khalis, Program Coordinator of DAAD Information Center in Kurdistan Region, which was on funding opportunities for individuals, more specifically, PhD programs, research stays, grant opportunities and limited MA programs in Art, Music, Design, Architecture and Film.
Benjamin Schmäling resumed with part three giving further information in detail on fundings for institutions including both country-specific and worldwide programs and grants. The webinar ended with a question-and-answer discussion between the university representatives and the organizers with and addition of helpful online links for extra information on the institution and its activities in the region.
