On the 26th of November 2019, head of Office of Embassy of Canada to Iraq in Erbil, Ms. Ashely Durek accompanied by vice governor of Halabja Governorate Mr. Kawa Ali paid a visit to University of Halabja (UoH).
The delegation was warmly received by the UoH president Assist. Prof. Dr. Mahabad Kamil Abdullah and dean of College of Science Dr. Sarkew Salah.
Later, a meeting was arranged in which UoH president pointed out the shortcomings and needs of UoH which can be fulfilled with the assistance and cooperation of Canada universities and other countries. Dr. Mahabad also asked for Canada’s cooperation in conducting research projects on Agriculture and Genocide. In addition, she asked for their cooperation in awarding UoH scholarships, opening training courses and organizing workshops. Besides, she also suggested that the Canadian universities assist the UoH for research purposes by providing the university with necessary information online. At the end, Ms. Ashely promised UoH to consider the recommendations and direct them to the Canada Government and UoH will see the results in the near future.
