Social Sciences Department Held a National Workshop

On the 19th of February 2023, Department of Social Sciences held a workshop entitled, “ Social Media Use and Sociological Analysis for the Crime Concept” in which the key speakers were which the spokesman of Halabja Governorate Police the lieutenant colonel Mr. Barzan Othman Muhammed and the lecturer Mr. Marwan Mazhar.
At the beginning, Mr. Osama Ashraf, the manager of the panel, pointed out the importance of the workshop topics which are currently some citizens are addicted to social media which lead them to face punishment.
After that, the first seminar was presented by Mr. Barzan entitled “Legal Analysis of Crimes Committed Through Social Media” in which he talked about hacking and stated, “Sometimes the suspects remain unknown, the IT department of police and courts make every attempt to find the perpetrators but when the crime is committed outside the country the perpetrators remain unknown and are not caught.
He further explained that women often do not file complaints against violations of social networks due to customs and traditions. Additionally, he added that cases exist in which someone left home and/ or country who committed crimes through social networks.
The second seminar entitled “A Sociological Analysis for the Crime Concept” was presented by Mr. Marwan Mazhar focused on the concept of crime from a sociological perspective and explained the views of sociological philosophers and psychologists such as Thomas Hobbes, Durkheim, Marx, Freud.
