The Office of Vice-President for Higher Education and Scientific Affairs
The Office for Higher Education and Scientific Affairs is a department under the UoH presidency which is responsible for overseeing all matters related to higher education. Its key tasks include:
- Issuing university decrees to award scientific titles to individuals holding master’s and doctoral degrees.
- Issuing university decrees to facilitate study permits both inside and outside the Kurdistan Region.
- Monitoring and managing scientific affairs and curricula at various academic levels including bachelor’s, higher diploma, master’s and doctorate programs.
- Strategically planning the higher education programs offered by UoH.
The Office of Vice-President for Higher Education and Scientific Affairs as well as the following directorates and centers work under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dana Abdullah Tahir, the Vice-president for Higher Education and Scientific Affairs:
- Directorate of Quality Assurance
- Directorate of International Academic Relations
- Directorate of Higher Education
- Central Library
- Language and Pedagogy Center
- Directorate of Journal
Furthermore, the office is responsible for the supervision of two high committees at the UoH:
- Scientific Promotion Committee: This committee is tasked with the discussion of the promotion of academic degrees ranging from assistant lecturer to lecturer, lecturer to assistant professor and assistant professor to professor.
- Journal Evaluation Committee: Their primary responsibility is to evaluate scientific journals so as to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Ministry of Higher Education for scientific and international research accuracy.
