Vice president for Administrative and Financial affairs Assist. Prof. Dr. Idris Karim gave a speech for the UoH media in which he stated that has a plan to open a new college in Shahrazoor District for the academic year (2019-2020).
Dr. Idrees stated that the UoH has a Kurdish Language Department at District of Shahrazoor which has a special administrative and scientific staff of its own.
In the morning class, it has 381 students and Evening Class consists has 65 students. In addition, he stated that the Department has the first group of graduates for the academic year (2017-2018) and the number of graduates were (31) students.
The University of Halabja is one of the Iraqi Kurdistan public universities which was founded in 2011.
Later, on July 8, 2010, during the six cabinet of Kurdistan Regional Government, the KRG Council of Ministers issued resolution (No. 1670) thereby declaring state University of Halabja and according to the first article and section seven of Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Law No.
(10) in 2008 and Ministerial Decree No.(n/644) related to establishment of the Universities of (Halabja Raparin, Zakho and Garmian) the UoH was Established. The UoH has five colleges namely College of Basic Education, College of Humanities, Physical Education, College of Science and Department of Building and Construction Engineering or College of Engineering. The colleges consist of the below mentioned departments:
1- College of Basic Education includes the departments (English Language, Kurdish Language, Arabic Language and Social Sciences).
2- College of Humanities consists of (Law, Principles of Religion, History and Geography Department).
3- College of Physical Education which consists of two departments (Basic physical education, and Physical Education).
4- College of Science includes of Computer Science and Physics Departments).
5- Department of Building and Construction Engineering which is affiliated to UoH Presidency and it is decided to be put under the name of Engineering College in the near future.
