UoH Participates in the APPRAIS’s First Training Week

The University of Halabja Participates in the APPRAIS Project’s first training week that was held and hosted by the University of Oslo in Norway between the 9th and 13th of May, 2022.
The UoH delegation consisted of Dr. Dana Abdulla Tahir, Vice-President for Higher Education and Scientific Affairs, Dr. Barzan Hadi Hama Kareem, Director of International Academic Relations, Mr. Aram Muhammad Qadir Director of Quality Assurance and Mr. Ariean Ali Hamid, member of Bologna Process committee at UoH.
The Training Week was led and organized by UNIMED and hosted by the University of Oslo where representatives from 8 Kurdish universities (University of Halabja, University of Sulaimani, University of Garmian, University of Zakho, University of Duhok, University of Salahaddin, University of Charmo and Duhok Polytechnic University) as well as representatives from KRG Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research participated in the event.
The topics of the training revolved around Work Package 3 which focuses on strategic planning, management, quality assurance and capacity building. The training was run in the course of 5 days and the topics of each day is as follows:
Day 1: The Bologna Process and its implications
Day 2: Governed or self-governed? Policies for governance of higher education in Norway
Day 3: University Social Responsibility, Student Services
Day 4: Quality Assurance in Research
Day 5: Strategic Planning in Higher Education

The APPRAIS is a collaboration project between several Kurdish and European universities led by UNIMED addressing governance, strategic planning and management of higher education institutions in Iraqi Kurdistan, with a special emphasis on developing the capacities of human resources to ultimately put forward a reform for the local Higher Education system by means of the implementation of Bologna process.
