On the 5th of May 2021, Dr. Barzan Hadi Hama Karim, head of IRO, participated in the second meeting of WP1 of APPRAIS project which was coordinated by UNIMED. Additionally, the meeting was held virtually in which the representatives of the eight Kurdish partners were present and offered reports regarding the duties and responsibilities they had in this work package. Besides, UoH and University of Sulaimany (UoS) based on the working groups for desk research which were distributed among the partners in this work package, they discussed their responsibility as a subgroup for “Collection of Secondary sources of the issues of HEIs state of the art in KRI”. For this purpose, the two universities did literature review in the last four weeks and collected information and documents which were published by national and international researchers in the last 30 years.

The project APPRAIS, governAnce, quality, accountability: a Piloting Reform PRrocess in kurdistAn regIon of Iraq, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union under the Capacity Building key action 2 and coordinated by UNIMED. Besides, a number of universities from Kurdistan Region of Iraq including(Salahaddin University, University of Sulaimani, University of Duhok, Halabja University, Duhok Polytechnic University, University of Garmian, University of Zakho, Charmo University), together with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan region and four partners from Universities in Europe (University of Pisa, Italy; University of Oslo, Norway; University of Murcia, Spain; University of Evora, Portugal) are partners in the project.
