UoH Research Center Holds First International symposium on Kurds in the European Archive

Under the Auspice of Professor.Dr.Mahabad Kamil Abdulla, UoH President, UoH Research Center in cooperation with the President Jalal Talabani Foundation , Jamal Nabaz Cultural Foundation and both European Center for Kurdish Studies (EZKS) and KGFA German organization held the first international Symposium entitled “Kurds in the European Archive” at Kurdish Center in Berlin on 21-22 of June,2024.

The symposium lasted for two days, and the agenda was as follows:
The first day of the Symposium starts with the welcoming speeches and reading the agenda of the event.
In the second day of the event Dr. Hersh Hama Amin Faqe Mahmood, Head of UoH Research Center gave a welcoming speech, later Professor. Dr. Mahabad Kamil Abdulla, UoH president, delivered the presidency’s message, which followed by the speech of Mr. Rezhan Hasan from President Jalal Talabani Foundation as well as Mr. Zardasht Khalid from the Jamal Nabaz Cultural Foundation.

The symposium consists of 4 panels
The first panel run by Prof. Dr. Yadgar Rasool, the panelists were as follows:
• Prof. Dr. Michael Liztiberg , the Importance of European Archive for Investigation about Kurds
• Prof. Dr. Adnan Abas (Yoztan), the Importance of Polish Archive for Investigation about Kurds
• Prof. Dr. Ranjdar Sherzad (UoH), the Importance of British Archive in conducting new Researches on Kurds,
The first panel concluded with an open discussion.
Second Panel was moderated by Mr. Kawa Fathi, and the participants were namely,
• Prof. Dr. Asos Mala Qadir (University of Würzburg) presented the Significance of German Archive as a Source for the Ancient Kurdish History
• Dr. Karwan Abdulrahman (UoH), presented the Challenges of writing Modern Kurdish History
• Assistant Lecturer Mr. Hardi Hama Saeed Othman (UoH),presented the Importance of Studying Kurdish for Developing the Kurdish Language and History Writing
With an open discussion the second panel ended

The third panel was moderated by Prof. Dr. Yadgar Rasul
• Assist. Prof. Dr. Sarwar Abdulla (UoH),on German Archive as a Source for Investigation about Kurds
• Mr. Rezhan Hassan (President Jalal Talabani Foundation) on Archive as a Basis for Preserving National Identity.
The session concluded with open discussions

The fourth panel was presented by Mr. Kawa Fathi entitled How can Kurdish researchers gain access to European Archives.
At the end of the panel, a round table discussion was organized for the following participants; Prof. Dr. Michael Liztiberg, Syamand Hajo,Roshna Amin,Assist. Prof.Sirwan Hamd,Assist.Prof. Ahmed Meera,Dr.Shwana Noori,Barbara Lipecka ,Dr.Adnan Abas and Dr.Zardasht Khalid).
Finally, the recommendations of the symposium were presented.
